The Discipleship Program is a residential intervention program originally developed by the founders of Set Free Church in Yucaipa, CA in 1993.

The program is split into phases, the Ranch (Phase I) and the Discipleship Home (Phase II), which provide a healthy, Christ-centered environment for individuals facing addiction issues.

The program teaches individuals the fundamentals of Christian living and how to apply those fundamentals in everyday life. It also teaches the discipline needed when faced with temptation, to make the right decision instead of the easy one.

Ranch (Phase I)

Phase I requires a 90-day commitment to the ranch, giving individuals an opportunity to begin a new way of life free from addiction through Jesus, in a place separated from their old lives and the world’s distractions.

Phase I of SFC in Hardin is comprised of 9 elements:

  • Spiritual Training,
  • Group and Individual Counseling (with a Licensed Addiction Counselor),
  • Equine Therapy,
  • Recreational Therapy,
  • Basic Vocational Education,
  • Life Skills Classes,

Discipleship Home (Phase II)

Individuals completing Phase I are encouraged to participate in Phase II & stay at our discipleship home, for as long as they feel led. Phase II is a commitment to reinforce the life changes made in Phase I and to continue with discipleship training.

In Phase II, Disciples continue to study the Word each day, experience fewer restrictions in day-to-day living, and have the opportunity to serve in a variety of ways. Service opportunities include outreach events in the local communities, helping in the local food bank program, maintaining our clothing room, blessing individuals through maintenance and repair of homes, volunteering at the homeless shelter, delivering hot meals and bibles to the homeless, and serving in our mechanic/machine shop.

These opportunities help individuals better identify their gifts for serving in God's kingdom and prepare them for a life of service to Him, whatever their next step may be after the Discipleship Program.
